CELEBRATION OF EXCELLENCE: FACULTY AND STAFF AWARDS

Text for e-mails/letters to different people contributing to
Nomination Package for Distinguished Professorships

Faculty and Staff at Buffalo State

Each on-campus contributor to the Distinguished nomination package should be identified to be non-duplicative (e.g., rarely would 2 letters come from members of the same department), and to be as specific as possible regarding the nominee’s qualifications for the promotion.

Dear Title,

XXX is being nominated for promotion to the rank of YYY, and I am/we are assisting in coordination of this effort.    XXX recommended you as someone who is familiar with his/her (name of topic of promotion), and commitment to YYY

A letter from you, supporting the nomination, would very much strengthen our nomination package.  I have provided, for your reference a copy of XXX’s vitae, as well as the criteria for the promotion.   Those reviewing the nomination would appreciate reading about the duration and range of your experiences with XXX, as well as your reflections on his/her qualifications for this honor.   If, in your letter, you can make specific reference to the descriptions of excellence used in the criteria, it would be greatly appreciated.

I will be putting the package together, and need to receive a hard copy of your letter by this date:  (one month in advance of when the package is due to Academic Affairs) in order to include it in the file.

Please address your letter to:

Yvette Roberts, Program Leader

State University of New York,
System Administration
Office of Academic and Campus Affairs

State University Plaza, Room S525

Albany, New York 12246

Please send your letter to me; my campus address is sssss.

On behalf of both the nominee and me, thank you very much for your consideration of this request.

If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me, either via email at XXX@buffalostate.edu  or at my office number – 716-878-5555.
