Buffalo State offers 136 undergraduate programs with 11 honors options and 63 opportunities for graduate study, including 18 postbaccalaureate teacher certification programs (PTCP). Popular undergraduate programs include communication, forensic science, design (ceramic, communication, textile, fiber, furniture, interior, jewelry, theater), and speech-language pathology.
Notable graduate programs: art conservation and creative studies. We offer 23 undergraduate, 18 postbaccalaureate, and 26 graduate programs in education.
Our faculty members are nationally renowned scholars who bring the latest research to the classroom, teaching is their first priority. There are more than 698 full- and part-time faculty members; 80 percent hold terminal degrees in their field.
Faculty are accessible and present—in fact, 86 percent of all classes have fewer than 40 students. Faculty are both in the classroom, teaching, and out in the field, involving students in applied research.
Many faculty see the city as an extension of the classroom. This especially holds true in the sciences. Students taking certain courses in biology, chemistry, earth science, oceanography, environmental science, geography, or history, complete work at Buffalo State's Great Lakes Center.
