ACADEMIC STANDARDS

FOR PARENTS

We understand that, as a parent or guardian of a Buffalo State student, you are very concerned about your student's well-being.  Our office is here to help ensure their academic well-being.  We would like to be seen as a partner in your student's success.

Sometimes, you may feel that we are not doing enough for your student - and you may want to intervene on your student's behalf.  We would be happy to speak with you, but there are federal laws that prohibit us from doing so without your student's consent.  If you are a parent of a BSC student, please have your student fill out the FERPA Form for Consent of Disclosure to Parents of Dependent Students if you would like to discuss your student's specific educational record details with campus officials, as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) limits what information we can discuss about students without their consent.  If you would like educational record information about a BSC student but you are not the student's parent, please have the student complete and submit the FERPA Form for Consent of Disclosure to Non-Parents.

If you want to speak to us about your student's experience at Buffalo State, please have them submit a written request to our office that will authorize us to speak to you about their College record.

Thank you for understanding this delicate balance of your student's rights and your parental concern.
