ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAMS

COLLEGIATE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ENTRY PROGRAM (CSTEP)

The Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program is a vital support service for Buffalo State students. The program offers two primary benefits for participants:

  • CSTEP facilitates access to careers in science and technology for economically disadvantaged students or members of groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education;
  • CSTEP assists students pursuing degrees in health-related fields (such as pre-med), engineering technology, pre-law, and computer information systems.

CSTEP operates in accordance with the New York State Education guidelines.  Our constant goal is to promote confidence and self-esteem in our students while helping them adjust to college life and make the most of their academic experience.

What does the program offer?

CSTEP provides academic enrichment and research experience in science, mathematics, and technology content areas:

  • Graduate/professional school admission preparation
  • Standardized test preparation
  • Academic and career development activities
  • Paid internships
  • Tutorial services

Am I eligible?

The following qualifications apply:

  • New York State resident
  • Enrolled full time at Buffalo State College (You may apply to CSTEP at any time during your college career.)
  • African American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or economically disadvantaged (as defined by New York State income guidelines)
  • Rated in good academic standing (minimum 2.00 GPA)
  • Interested in a licensed profession or a career in the scientific, technological, or health-related professions
