ACADEMIC SUPPORT PROGRAMS

INCOMING STUDENTS

Welcome to Buffalo State College! We'd like to acquaint you with the many exciting options open to you right now. By the time you graduate, you will have completed the Intellectual Foundations, general education program, and a major. But every journey begins with a step. Your first step is to choose among the many course and program options available only to first-year (freshman) students at Buffalo State.  So, please review the options described below.  Click on the option for the specifics.

Please direct your questions and concerns to incomingstudents@buffalostate.edu, call (716) 878-4041 or 878-5223, or visit our Academic Advisement Center in South Wing 100 or 110 on the Buffalo State campus

Once we receive your Help Us Help You Register form, an advisor in University College will register you for a full-time schedule.  One course will be BSC101: Foundations of Inquiry, a course required of all Buffalo State first-year students.  The second course will be a course in writing at the college level that fulfills a portion of your Basic Communication requirement.  The remainder of your schedule will be courses that are either recommended by your major or fulfill other degree requirements.  Once you have been registered, you will receive a letter and an email explaining your course schedule.

The final step is for you to attend Orientation, where you will have the opportunity to speak with an advisor before making any adjustments to your schedule.  However if you have any questions now, advisors from University College at Buffalo State are available to help you.  Please feel free to email advise@buffalostate.edu , call (716)878-4041 or (716)878-5223, or visit our Academic Advisement Center in South Wing 100 on the Buffalo State campus, if you have any questions.
