Why choose Buffalo State?

In a word, "options." We offer the programs you're looking for—135 undergraduate and 63 graduate academic programs in the arts, sciences, education, and specialized professional programs. Our graduates are empowered with the knowledge and experience to pursue successful careers after college.

The faculty care, a lot. Buffalo State's superb teaching faculty is among the best in SUNY—43 faculty members have been awarded the prestigious SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching since its 1973 inception. There are more than 698 full- and part-time faculty members; 80 percent hold terminal degrees in their field.

Classes are small. Small enough that you'll get to know your professors. Classes for undergraduate majors usually have between 12 and 15 students, while 86 percent of all classes have fewer than 40 students in them. Most graduate courses have fewer than 15 students. Our graduates get great jobs and go on to excellent graduate programs.

You won't take a bus across campus. Our walkable campus, in Buffalo's museum district, offers city advantages with a cozy, neighborhood feel.

There's a lot more you should know about Buffalo State as you make your decision. Check out our key facts.
