Q: Can I apply online?

A: Yes. Apply online.

Q: Will Buffalo State accept credits from other institutions?

A: Buffalo State accepts credits for courses in math, the natural sciences, fine arts, design, the social sciences, English, business, communications, history, foreign languages, computers, and other courses in programs we offer.

We cannot, however, accept credits from courses in programs we do not offer. Such programs include, but are not limited to, nursing, automotive technology, office technology, agriculture, and paralegal studies.

Q: How many credits from other institutions will Buffalo State accept?

A: A maximum of 88 credits from other accredited four-year institutions, no more than 66 credits from a two-year school, and no more that 15 credits from proprietary schools.

However, even if the Admissions Office accepts your credits, please be aware that each department decides how courses will transfer and if they will be accepted as part of the requirements for your major.

A: Transfer credits are evaluated once a student has applied and been accepted.

Q: As an international student, how do I apply to Buffalo State?

A: You may obtain an application through the SUNY international student Web site.

Q: What is the minimum TOEFL requirement?

A: Buffalo State requires a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based TOEFL test, or a minimum score of 173 on the computer-based TOEFL test.

Q: As an international student, can I get financial aid?

A: Buffalo State cannot provide financial assistance to non-U.S. citizens. You may, however, contact these organizations for information about financial aid sources.
