Course Credits by Examination

Course Credits by Examination

Our course credits by examination program serves students who seek recognition for achievement acquired outside conventional college classrooms. It helps those entering Buffalo State College as well as those already matriculated. Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB) and College Level Examination Program (CLEP) are the proficiency exams recognized by Buffalo State for college credit. Any undergraduate at Buffalo State College may receive a maximum of 30 semester hours of credit, and with departmental approval may receive up to a maximum of 12 semester hours of credit toward a major program via proficiency examinations.

How to submit scores:

If you request an official report to be sent to your home, you can bring it in person or mail it to the Admissions Office. However, the envelope from the reporting agency must not be opened. Otherwise, it will not be accepted as official.

Upon review of your official report, Buffalo State will record the approved credits on your official BSC transcript.
