How to apply
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), a program that helps students with potential qualify for admission to the college, is for capable and highly motivated students who, because of inadequate financial resources and academic preparation, have not had the same educational opportunities as other students.
The Buffalo State EOP staff, with its extensive experience, offers support to every student enrolled in the program. As a result of this personal attention, numerous EOP alumni have gone on to successful careers in law, medicine, business, teaching, engineering, and computer programming.

- Orientation to college
- Pre-freshman summer institute
Eligibility Requirements
- New York State resident for 12 months before enrollment
- High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma (GED)
- Ability to demonstrate potential for success through recommendations, letters, essays, or other supplemental information
- Low-income family background

2. Forward official high school transcripts, standardized test scores, and any required supplemental material to:

3. Complete the EOP supplemental form (PDF, 212KB) and send it to:

4. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A FAFSA application is available through the Financial Aid Office or online.
5. To apply for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), you must complete a separate form, available through the Financial Aid Office.
6. If transferring from another college, please provide proof that you were enrolled in a similar educational opportunity program, HEOP, SEEK, or college discovery program at your previous college. If you were not enrolled in such a program, you must demonstrate that you were eligible for EOP when you first entered college.
