International Students

Buffalo State's campus is a vibrant, diverse environment that, in the fall 2005 semester, welcomed 41 new international students. Students have come from countries across the globe, including China, Jamaica, Cambodia, India, Kenya, Singapore, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom. Buffalo State is excited about expanding connections with students from all over the world. In addition to earning a degree from a State University of New York (SUNY) campus, you will have the chance to explore many aspects of life in the United States.

Acceptance Policy

Authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students, we accept students who meet these requirements:

  • Completed the equivalent of 12 years of elementary and secondary education
  • Demonstrate the ability to pay all college costs (estimated at $23,000.00 USD annually)
  • Provide evidence of proficiency in the English language. Buffalo State requires minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores of 500 (paper-based test), 173 (computer-based test), and 65 (Internet-based test).

Buffalo State cannot provide financial assistance to international students. You may, however, contact these organizations for information about other financial aid sources.

Housing

The North Wing Residence Hall is a global living center dedicated to international students and other students interested in international studies and exchange programs. This residence hall provides special programs and facilities for its residents. Students may live here year-round.
