Scholarships

Over the years, Buffalo State alumni have chosen to honor their alma mater by establishing a scholarship. Your donation to the Alumni Fund supports these ongoing scholarships and ensures that future generations of students may receive the complete education that only Buffalo State can provide.

2008-2009 Alumni Association Scholarships are now available!

There are 21 scholarships available in amounts ranging from $150 to $1,000.  To apply, students must submit a completed application form, an essay, and two reference forms to the Alumni Affairs Office, Cleveland Hall 305, by 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008.

Stop by the Alumni Office today, Cleveland Hall 305, to pick up an application, contact us at (716) 878-6001 so that we can send an application to you in the mail, or view and print the application form (DOC, 168KB).

Remember, scholarship applications must be postmarked or received by the Alumni Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2008.

Graduate Scholarship Opportunity:

  • Frances Holbrook Scholarship ($300): Applicant must be majoring in Business and Marketing Education.

Graduate/Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Buffalo State College Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship (two awards - $500 each): Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a Buffalo State College alumnus; relationship of student to alumnus and graduation year of alumnus must be specified.
  • Military Service Scholarship ($250): Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate or full or part-time graduate student. Applicant must also be currently serving or have prior service in any branch of the United States military. Preference will be given to veterans who served on active duty two or more years.

Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities:

  • Brigitte V. Kallen Scholarship (three awards - $500 each): Applicant must be balancing work and school; demonstrating a strong work ethic and community involvement; and have achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Charles Weber Scholarship (two awards - $500 each): Applicant must be majoring in Early Childhood Education.
  • Dr. G. Wesley Ketcham Scholarship (three awards - $650 each): Applicant must be a full-time Technology Education major.
  • Hazel M. Bleeker Scholarship (two awards - $750 each): Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  • Hazel Macartney Scholarship ($1,000): Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  • Josephine Syracuse Scholarship ($150): Applicant must demonstrate a commitment to community service and be in good academic standing.
  • Kevin J. Shea Memorial Scholarship ($500): Applicant must be a Social Studies Education major; preference given to a male student.  
  • Robert and Gloria Laskie Scholarship ($250): Applicant must be an Elementary Education major who has completed at least one year at Buffalo State College and who has contributed to campus life through participation in student activities.
  • Schmidt/Eckert Scholarship (three awards - $600 each): Preference to a freshman majoring in Art Education.
