On December 9, 1966, the Charles E. Burchfield Center at Buffalo State College opened to the public with artist Charles E. Burchfield himself cutting the ribbon at the event. The exhibition, the Charles E. Burchfield Center 40th Anniversary, celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Burchfield-Penney and will be on view through May 13, 2007. The Burchfield-Penney Art Center is pleased to announce that the museum’s capital campaign for a new museum has been awarded a challenge grant of $700,000 from The Kresge Foundation.
