Men's Basketball Player Kharey Wood

Bubba WoodMen's basketball player Kharey "Bubba" Wood (Brooklyn/Abraham Lincoln) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week for the second time. The junior guard helped the Bengals to a two-game split at the RDV Sportsplex Tournament in Orlando, Fla. After scoring a team-high 17 points in a 65-59 win over Albion on Wednesday, Wood poured in 20 points and had six rebounds and six assists in Friday's 110-103 overtime defeat against Lincoln. [more…]

ORLANDO, Fla.—Buffalo State (6-4) dropped a 110-103 heartbreaker in overtime against Lincoln University (7-3) today on the final day of the Orlando Magic/RDV Sportsplex Tournament in Orlando, Fla., despite a career-high 29 points by Dion Mozelle (Rego Park/Xaverian). Dante GriggsMen's basketball player Dante Griggs (Chester/Chester Academy) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The senior health and wellness was named the MVP of the Holiday Inn Invitational after leading the Bengals to the championship with a pair of wins. After posting 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in a 78-44 win over Medaille, Griggs added 15 points and five boards in an 85-75 win against Hilbert in the title game. He is second on the team with 12.8 points-per-game and leads the Bengals with 6.6 rebounds-per-contest. [more…]

Burchfield-Penney Meets First Term of Kresge Challenge Grant

The Burchfield-Penney Art Center is very pleased to announce that the museum has met the first condition in securing a $700,000 challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation. To date, the campaign has raised more than $29.7 million toward its $33 million goal. The new Burchfield-Penney Art Center is currently under construction at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Rockwell Road and is scheduled to open to the public in spring 2008. [more…]

Darnika MoseleyWomen's basketball player Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The senior broadcasting major was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Elmira Holiday Tournament after posting back-to-back double-doubles. Moseley had 12 points and 11 rebounds in a 57-54 come-from-behind win against Lycoming on Friday, and had 13 points and 13 boards in a loss to Elmira in Saturday's championship game. She now ranks second in school history in rebounding (677) and is 10th in scoring (959). [more…]

The junior criminal justice major stopped 35 of the 36 shots she faced (.972 save percentage) this weekend as she helped the Bengals to a pair of conference victories over visiting Chatham, 3-1 and 2-0.
