The Charles E. Burchfield Foundation presented a significant donation to the Burchfield-Penney Art Center on Friday, May 12, 2006 at the Burchfield-Penney’s Rockwell Hall location. The priceless gift is an extraordinary archive of drawings, sketches, texts and other materials relating to the life and artwork of the American watercolor master painter Charles E. Burchfield (1893-1967), as well as his pensive 1942 painting titled The Studio. In addition, the foundation is making an additional cash gift to the New Museum Project of $250,000. [more…]
