CANTON, NY--Buffalo State's women's track and field team finished fourth of 16 teams at the NYSCTC Championships in at St. Lawrence today, marking a nine-place improvement from last season. Women's track athlete Toya Edwards (Brooklyn/Clara Barton) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The freshman paced the Bengals to a fourth-place finish at the SUNYAC Championships with a pair of first-place finishes and new school bests. Edwards won the 55-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.24. She also won the 200-meter dash in 26.02. [more…]

Men's Hockey to Host First-Ever SUNYAC Playoff Game on Tuesday

Buffalo State’s men’s hockey team will host the first home SUNYAC playoff game in the program’s history on Tuesday (Feb. 20) night at 7 p.m. The fourth-seeded Bengals will host No. 5 Fredonia at 7 p.m. in the SUNYAC quarterfinals. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 for the general public, $2 for Buffalo State students and $3 for other students. The first 300 Buffalo State students with valid ID and the first 200 high school students will get in for free. [more…]

Sean SheehanMen's hockey goaltender Sean Sheehan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week, after helping the Bengals clinch their second-consecutive SUNYAC playoff berth. The senior criminal justice major recorded his fourth career shutout in a 3-0 win at Brockport on Friday. He made 35 saves, including stopping several breakaways to preserve the victory. Jenelle OroszWomen's indoor track and field athlete Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The junior English education major won the high jump at the Case Western and Mt. Union Invitationals on consecutive days. At Mt. Union, Orosz broke her own school record she set as a freshman, and met NCAA Championship qualifying standards, clearing 1.67 meters (5' 5 3/4").  [more…]
