Women's Track Athlete Latoya D. Edwards

Women's track sprinter Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week after helping the Bengals equal their best-ever finish at the Indoor SUNYAC Championships, placing third. The sophomore health and wellness major part of three of the Bengals four first-place finished. Edwards won the 55-meter dash, with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.28 seconds, won the 200-meter dash with a new school record time of 25.81 seconds, and anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay. In the relay, she teamed with Suzan Spence, Katya Marin and Anika Niles to set a new meet and school record with a time of 4:01.65. The time bettered the previous school best by more than nine seconds, and won the race by more than eight seconds.  [more…]

Women's hockey player Shannon Anesetti (Canonsburg, PA/ Canon-McMillan) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The senior goaltender was unbeatable as the Bengals locked up an ECAC West playoff position, making 48 saves in a pair of 1-0 shutouts at Oswego. Anesetti, an earth sciences major, stopped all 20 shots faced on Friday and made 28 saves on Saturday. She now has six career shutouts. [more…]

True Lives / False Lives, a RendezBlue Festival at the Burchfield-Penney

The last weekend of programming in the Burchfield-Penney Art Center’s Rockwell Hall galleries is the second of the museum’s new RendezBlue festivals entitled True Lives/False Lives from February 28 – March 2, 2008. True Lives/False Lives is a four-day art event featuring autobiographical films, videos, poetry, music and visual arts. The festival culminates with a closing party on Sunday, March 2 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. as the final toast to the Burchfield-Penney’s 40 years in Rockwell Hall. [more…]

Men's basketball player Glenroy Carr (Amherst/ Sweet Home) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The freshman scored a career-best 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a critical 66-61 win at Fredonia on Saturday. Carr was 5 of 6 from the field and 3 of 3 from the charity stripe.
