Women's lacrosse player Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/ CW Baker) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week. The senior health and wellness major became the Bengals' all-time leading goal scorer, bringing her career total to 95. Ackley had three goals and an assist in a 12-11 triple overtime loss at Christopher Newport. She also helped Buffalo State rally from a 9-2 halftime deficit at Randolph-Macon, scoring four of the Bengals 15 second-half goals and assisting on another, in the 17-11 win. [more…]

Track athletes Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) and Mario Hicks (Corning/ Corning West) were named the Buffalo State Co-Athletes of the Week after representing the Bengals at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend at Ohio Northern University. Edwards, a sophomore majoring in health and wellness, became just the second-ever Buffalo State female to capture All-America status in track and field, placing third in the 55-meter dash in a school record time of 7.12 seconds. Hicks, a senior English major, was a repeat All-American in the 55-meter hurdles, placing fifth in 7.60 seconds. Hicks was second in the event a year ago. [more…]

The senior English major posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.62 seconds, placing fourth at the ECAC Championships. Women's track sprinter Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week for the second-consecutive week after running a perfect meet at the New York State Championships. Edwards won three individual titles and ran a leg of a championship relay. The sophomore health and wellness major set a pair of individual school records, winning the 200 (25.51) and 500-meter runs (1:19.30). She also won the 55-meter dash with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.26 seconds, and teamed with Katya Marin (Mt. Vernon/ Mt.
