ART EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Buffalo State’s Art Education Department, established in 1930, administers the oldest state-sponsored art teacher preparation program in the nation, offering bachelor of science, master of science, and postbaccalaureate certification in art education, as well as a minor in art therapy.

Art education students learn both the theory and practice of teaching art in programs that have a national reputation for excellence. In fact, internationally known art educator Dr. Georgia Collins described Buffalo State’s professional program as an “art teacher training program that could serve as a national model.”

With alumni teaching in all 50 states and many foreign countries, the Art Education Department can boast of a curriculum, facilities, and results are truly world-class.
