Jason Greenway, Bob Janosz


Nick Carriere is in his third year as the head coach at Buffalo State after leading the Bengals to an 23-26-3 overall record and back-to-back SUNYAC playoff berths for the first time in school history, including the program’s first-ever home playoff game. In addition, Carriere has mentored five All-SUNYAC players and was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2005-06.

Carriere came to Buffalo State after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Fredonia State, where he worked extensively in the program’s recruiting efforts in New York, Ontario, Quebec, Michigan and Ohio. He also has more than 10 years of experience working with various hockey camps, including the Buffalo Sabres Hockey School, the European Development Camp, and Can/Am Hockey Schools. He also served as an assistant coach with the gold medal-winning Western Team in the 2007 Empire State Games, and as an assitant in the 2003 Eastern College Division Senior All-Star Game.

A native of Montreal, Quebec, Carriere relocated to the Western New York in the early 1990s. He attended Niagara University, where he was a key contributor to the success of the Purple Eagles and earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce. On the ice, Carriere was twice named the squad’s Most Improved Player. He participated in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight Championship during the 1998-99 and 2000-01 seasons. Prior to playing for the Purple Eagles, he played Junior B hockey for the Fort Erie (Ont.) Meteors.

Following graduation, he played professional hockey in both Rockford and Adirondack of the United Hockey League. He also received a training camp invite from the South Carolina Stingrays of the East Coast Hockey League.

Carriere comes with a hockey pedigree. His father, Larry, is a former NHL player, who spent four seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, and is currently the pro scout with the Washington Capitals.

Assistant Coach Jason Greenway

Jason Greenway joined the Bengals’ coaching staff prior to the 2005-06 season with an impressive playing resume. He is a former Division I hockey player at Niagara University and the University of Findlay of College Hockey America. Greenway continued his playing career beyond graduation, playing professionally with stints in the ECHL, Central Hockey League, United Hockey League and the Southern Pro Hockey League. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Findlay with a dual major in business management and international business. A native of Gibsonia, Pa., Greenway is single and currently resides in South Buffalo. Son of Gary and Cindi, he has two sisters, Melanie and Megan, and also has two nieces and two nephews.

Goaltending Consultant Bob Janosz

Bob Janosz joined the Bengals’ staff this season as the goaltending consultant. Owner and operator of the Bob Janosz School of Goaltending, Janosz played four seasons of Division I hockey for Canisius College. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally in the ECHL, United Hockey League and Roller Hockey International. Janosz earned his bachelor’s degree from Canisius and went on to complete his master’s in physical education.
