Men's track and field at Buffalo State has a long history of local, state and national recognition. Thirty-three individuals have been named All-American. Willie Hordge captured a pair of NCAA Championships at the 2007 outdoor meet, winning the 100 and 200-meter dash events. Richard Harris captured a national championship in 2005, winning the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The women's program, formed in 1982, is comparatively young, but has made strides in establishing a winning tradition of its own. Jenelle Orosz became the first female All-American in school history in the high jump at the 2007 Indoor NCAA Championships.
With both an indoor and outdoor season, male and female track and field athletes at Buffalo State are provided with an ideal opportunity for success and improvement. Buffalo State boasts a one tenth-mile indoor track complete with jumping and throwing areas, located within the state-of-the-art Sports Arena. With the newly renovated outdoor track, Coyer Field provides an optimal outdoor training and racing venue for the Buffalo State Bengals.
