Season Review
2007-2008 REVIEW
Buffalo State took some noticeable steps under second-year head coach Sue Roarke in returning the program to the prominence it enjoyed during the 1980s, 1990s and early part of this decade. The Bengals improved by three wins, going 10-16 overall and returned to the SUNYAC postseason after a one-year hiatus.
The Bengals opened the season with a home victory over Hartwick and added another home win in the SUNYAC opener against SUNYIT. Buffalo State also picked up a pair of conference wins each against Geneseo and Morrisville along the way. The Bengals also topped Fredonia in league play and won non-conference games against Pitt-Bradford, Albany Pharmacy and Rutgers-Camden.
Senior Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) led the Bengals, averaging 13.0 points-per-game, and concluded her career ninth in school history with 1,055 points. Parks was the lone Bengal selected to the All-SUNYAC Team, earning honorable mention status. Junior Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) was second on the team with 11.5 points and led the way with 7.7 rebounds-per-game. Senior Lindsay Smith (Ithaca/Ithaca) posted her best season, averaging 8.4 points-per-game.
Buffalo State will look to replace the talent lost with the graduation of Parks and Smith, but with several key pieces returning, including impact freshman point guard Barb Kiliszek (Depew/Lancaster), the Bengals appear poised to continue their ascent up the SUNYAC standings.
