Students of Buffalo State College will get
a chance to get their work recognized by fellow students,
faculty and the administration April 29 and 30 at the Seventh
Annual Student Research and Creativity Celebration.
Undergraduate and graduate students from a
variety of majors will present their research and creative
projects in Butler Library.
Assistant professor Susan Keller-Mathers of
the creative studies department, who is coordinating the
department’s presenters, believes the event is one
of a kind and is a great way for students to receive recognition.
“Here is an event that allows us to
celebrate the great things that are happening here (BSC),”
says Keller-Mathers.
Presentations range from students reading
thesis papers, giving talks and preparing posters to art
presentations and musical performances.
Coordinator Jill Singer, professor of earth
science in the science department, said the event is a great
experience for students, preparing them for further education
or the job market.
Some of this year’s presentations include:
• How school teachers use creative problem solving
in classes: a research project.
• A comparative analysis between the United States
and the main ethnic groups in Singapore.
The deadlines for submitting an application
for this year’s celebration has already passed but
those who wish to join the festivities next year can visit
the undergraduate research Web site for information about
future celebrations.
