Lessons in law

Catching the bad guys is a hard job, but a local FBI agent wants to make sure future officers are up to the task.

In a lecture held by the criminal justice department, FBI evidence specialist Lavonde Locke gave Buffalo State College criminal justice majors and other students a glimpse into her life.

“I always enjoy meeting with students and getting to show them what I do,” said Locke, who has been with the FBI for six years, mainly as a lab analyst, analyzing evidence from crime scenes. “I hope to see some of these students down the road, this time as colleagues.”

Locke came prepared to give students the chance to ask questions about her profession and career, ranging from her experiences in the field, to what was the most disgusting thing she has ever seen.

“They were very inquisitive about what I do and asked a lot of thought-provoking questions,” said Locke. “I loved it.”
Students enjoyed getting a first-hand look at their prospective profession.

“It was awesome getting to see her and learn about the great jobs there are after college,” said senior criminal justice major Justin Mancuso. “She gave us all great insight.”
