Buffalo State College students have found a unique ways
to give back to the less fortunate.
Members of the Greek organizations recently
donated their hair in an effort to raise money for Roswell
Park Cancer Institute.
“It was a great way for us to help
patients in a whole new way,” said Todd Jackson, a
senior who donated some of his blonde hair for the cause
last weekend. He and other fraternity members donated hair
at a local Supercut.
Hair collected from the “Goin Bald
for Bucks” campaign will be sent to “Locks of
Love,” a non-profit organization that makes wigs for
cancer patients 18 and younger who suffer hair loss from
medical procedures, such as chemotherapy.
Local and national members of “Locks
of Love” were very pleased with the student’s
giving spirits.
“We happy to accept any donations that
can be made, and we welcome their giving spirit,”
said Locks of Love coordinator Mary Jackson from her office
in Lake Worth, Fla. Locks for Love host many events to raise
money and hair for the cause, most at local salons and barber
shops. Locks for Love host events in Buffalo about four
times a year to raise funds, mainly for cancer treatment
centers.
To donate hair, guidelines include:
• hair must be a 10 inch minimum
• must be cleaned and dried
• hair cannot be chemically damaged
