The United Student Government has a new administration for 2005, including presidential and non-USG positions.

The new president, vice president and treasurer of USG are, respectively:
• Matthew Levin-Stankevich
• Dawn Norman
• Khari Myers

This year, 973 students voted, according the USG Web site (USG). Todd Espinosa, president of the executive council, said this is more than average.

“The average number of voters is usually 500, although last year there were about 1,100 to 1,200 votes,” Espinosa said.

Three out of the four administrative vice presidents remained the same this year.
“This is the greatest continuity USG has ever seen,” Espinosa said. “This will make the year flow easily because there is no learning period for these positions.”

The three administrative vice presidents remaining in office are:
• Meghan Blake, administrative vice president of academics
• Melanie LaFontaine, administrative vice president of community relations
• Kevin Buckley, administrative vice president of sports and recreation
On the ballot this year were three referendums. These include:
• Student activity fee, included in student tuition, which pays for student clubs and organizations and services such as the Dental Clinic. (595 students voted to keep it mandatory, 233 votes to make it voluntary)
• Continued support of NYPIRG chapter- New York Public Interest Research Group is New York State's largest student-directed consumer, environmental, and government reform organization. (700 voted yes, 122 voted no)
• NFTA Student Transit Access Pass- This fee is also included in tuition; the pass is an unlimited access pass on NFTA metro bus and rail services. (603 voted yes, 274 voted no)

The college senate meets every Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. in the Student Union Assembly Hall. All students and faculty are welcome to attend.
