With the holiday season quickly approaching, the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall is gearing up to celebrate with “A Rockapella Holiday” concert at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Rockapella http://www.rockapella.com is a five-man a capella musical group known best for the “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?” theme song. The concert is performed with only the members’ voices acting as instruments. Rockapella’s style has received many positive reviews
According to a USA Today review, “Some of the best musical instrument of all is the human voice. If you’ve seen Rockapella, you know that’s the truth.”
Jeffrey Marsha, director of operations for the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall said seeing Rockapella perform is a unique experience.
“If you closed your eyes and listened, you would swear you were hearing drums, bass and other instruments,” he said.
Audiences are always shocked when they hear Rockapella perform, Marsha said. They are amazed at how much Rockapella sounds like a band, even though there are no instruments.
The members of Rockapella add a smooth edge to traditional favorites and new originals to perform a concert with their own unique take on the holidays, Marsha said.
This is Rockapella’s biggest holiday tour ever- the band is touring more than 20 cities between New York and Los Angeles.
The concert is suitable for people of all ages. The group is very audience friendly. It isn’t uncommon for the group to go into the audience and invite people on stage to participate in the show, Marsha said. People can expect an amazing concert.
