Charities are out in full force during the month of March at Buffalo State College. As organizations like Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society and the Writer’s Compass are holding collection drives that will benefit the shelters Compass House and Cornerstone Manor.
Both charity drives will last until March 31st. There is a reason both drives are at the same time.
Cindy Wong, the social work department secretary, says: “Many charities are having drives this month because March is social work month.”
This does not mean they are collecting the same materials. Phi Alpha’s collection drive is collecting toiletry supplies. Donate by dropping off one of the items on their list to Classroom Building Room C115. These items are:
Lisa Balderman, the president of Phi Alpha, says: “We decided to collect these items because an organization like Compass House usually gets little help when it comes to obtaining these materials.”
The Writer’s Compass drive is a clothing drive that will support the Cornerstone Manor. Donate by dropping off new or slightly used clothing at Ketchum Hall Room 323. The items most need by Cornerstone Manor are:

socks/ undergarments
-
pajamas
-
sweatshirts
-
pants
-
blankets
This doesn’t mean they won’t accept other clothing items. These are just the ones
they need more of.
