Students and faculty respond to plans for the future

The next five years will bring about much-needed improvements in the Buffalo State College infrastructure, President Muriel A. Howard and Vice President Stanley Kardonsky said in the State of the College Address March 1.

Motorist Assistance Program aids students with car problems

Donald M. Agen, investigator/ university police student assistants (UPSA) supervisor, calculates that last semester alone the Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) helped 150 people. The main goal of the free program offered by the Buffalo State university police is to assist people who can’t get their car started.

Aid may come in the form of a jump-start, providing tools, offering gas, phone, etc. All a person has to do for MAP service is call (716) 878-6333, or use a campus blue-light phone and the MAP truck will be sent out.

Taking a turn on the runway

The Buffalo State College fashion department is more than just a major.

Fashion and textile design students are getting out into the making a difference and learning in the process. Through fundraisers and fashion shows the students are making their mark.

The department holds a fashion show every spring semester modeling career fashions.

This year’s fashion show is on March 22, in the Assembly Hall of the Student Union during Bengal Pause, from 12:30 to 1:30p.m. This year’s theme “Donald Trump, ‘You’re Hired,’ ” will explore interviewee attire.

Orientation leaders spend the summer on campus
Of the 100 to 125 applicants each year, the Orientation Office selects 50 students to be orientation leaders. The office looks to find a diverse group of extremely dependable people to run the orientation sessions during the summer. One-thousand dollars and free summer housing are some of the perks that come with the job.
