The Celtic band Gaelic Storm tears into the Buffalo
State College Performing
Arts Center’s as part of the center’s 2005 Great
Performers Series on April 15.
This will be Gaelic Storm’s first visit to BSC and its second
visit to the Buffalo area as part of the band’s 2005
tour.
Arriving on the scene in 1996 after being discovered in Santa
Monica, Calif., at O’Brien’s Pub, Gaelic Storm has
produced five albums, including its latest, “How Are We
Getting Home,” which debuted third on the Billboard World
Music Chart.
The band’s wild and energetic performances, as described
by a BSC press release, are said to leave a rather unforgettable
impression on audiences.
“Gaelic Storm’s Irish tunes sound and feel more like
rock music than anything else,” says business major Daniel
Tomczyk who plans on attending the show. “Their music is
so full of energy and power.”
Touring at more than 125 locations a year, the band routinely
breaks attendance and merchandise sales records.
According to the band’s Web site, the band broke the attendance
record at the Albuquerque, N.M., Bio-Park as part of The Rock
Boat 2004 concert series. It then did more CD sales than all other
bands that performed in the series.
The band also appeared in the blockbuster film “Titanic”
as the Irish party band that got Rose (Kate Winslet) up off her
duff and dancing.
Gaelic Storm will perform at 8 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center.
Tickets can be purchased at the Rockwell
Hall Box Office. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m.
The cost is $15 for students, $20 for seniors and $25 to the general
public.
