The ballots are in

The 973 student ballots are in, the votes have been counted and the Buffalo State College United Students Government President is Matthew Levin-Stankevich.

Stankevich says his plans as president of the USG at Buffalo State are to strengthen the USG as a whole.

“I would restructure USG so we may better communicate with the students, clubs and organizations more clearly. I would also represent USG in a professional manner in all aspects of presidency. I would poll or survey students to accumulate a list of concerns then would act from there. I have already focused in past years as USG senator on improvement in such areas as class scheduling, class availability and advisement. I am working on Buffalo State College corporate alliances in order to gain new technology on campus, getting representation from graduate students. I am big on structure and getting through the appropriate channels,” he said.

Other election winners are;
• Dawn Norman, vice president
• Khari Myers, treasurer
• Kevin Buckley, vice president for sports and recreation
• Ashley Clarke, vice president for student life
• Meghan Blake, vice president for academics
• Melanie LaFontaine, vice president for community relations
• Aaron Groover, USG senator
• Todd Espinosa, college council

Vice President Dawn Norman says she plans to be more assessable to USG organizations. “I will attend general interest meetings of USG organizations to work with other organizations to improve campus life. I would work towards establishing a better relationship between USG organizations and Greek organizations. I would improve the campus by adding computers and games to the game room, improve food selection, extend dining hours and fund more campus organizations. Work with Residence Life to get Moore Dining Hall set up as a cafeteria or banquet hall. Upgrade computers for recognized organizations and add more study space in the Union,” she said.

Vice President for Academics Meghan Blake says she has been in USG for three years and is devoted to it.

“I would like to get the organizations to collaborate their ideas and working together to make student life better. I will serve as a liaison between academic clubs on campus and the USG senate and executive board,” she said.

Melanie LaFontaine, vice president for community relations says she has always been interested in community relations.

“As vice president of community relations I would like to plan more events for the entire Buffalo State community. I would like to advertise more so students know what is going on at the college. I would also like to get USG involved in more community outreach and volunteer work,” LaFontaine said.
