Authors from all over Western New York showed up Friday evening for the “Gusto at the Gallery.”

“Gusto at the Gallery” is a weekly event at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery www.albrightknox.org/ that showcases local individuals with talent, such as artists, musicians or authors. The event is free and has been ongoing for about a year and held Fridays.

The Buffalo News is the sole sponsor for the weekly “Gusto at the Gallery” events. Sponsoring four other major events throughout the year.

Sharon Green, a professor from Niagara University www.niagara.edu/, brings her book to the event in hopes that it will spark students’ interests to get help with school.

“I’ve been a teacher for 31 years and I have two children of my own already past college that have benefited from this book,” Green said. “It is mostly geared towards college bound twelfth graders to get a head start, but anyone who is need of some help with benefit from this book.”

Cindy Sterner, promotions director for the Buffalo News www.buffalonews.com helped in organizing this event.

“This is the first time that we are doing the local authors, but the book club has been going strong since 2003.” Sterner said.

Jaclyn Czuprynski, promotions assistant for the Buffalo News is in charge of coordinating this event.

“There has been a great response with all of the other events that we have sponsored. We are trying to build this ‘Gusto at the Gallery’ with different workshops to suit everyone.” Czuprynski said.

There were about 58 authors in Clifton Hall and six from the Buffalo Author’s Guild near the entrance alongside Susan LoTempio, assistant managing editor of the Buffalo News.

“One of the main focus’ of the Buffalo News is reading,” LoTempio said. “That is why we started the book club because we realized that Buffalo is a community of readers.”
