Mingling is considered a curricular activity at BSC’S American Marketing Association meetings. Buffalo State College’s chapter meets weekly to engage students in the concepts they will be using upon graduation, including networking and actively looking for a job.
The meetings are held from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. Thursdays in Classroom Building Room B119. Students in the marketing program and those simply interested in the field are encouraged to attend.
The AMA provides students with the opportunity to attend conferences and other events that develop skills needed to succeed in the marketing field.
The AMA also has a monthly speaker series featuring professionals in the field to give different perspectives on the job. The next speaker comes to campus Oct. 29.
BSC’s chapter of the AMA is nationally recognized and is sponsored by the United Students Government. The organization is open to BSC faculty and staff.
“Relevant marketing, management, financial, advertising and promotion experience.”
This is what faculty adviser Diane McFarland said active involvement in the AMA provides members with. She also said these are skills needed to compete in today’s work environment. (McFarland can be reached in Room 322 Chase Hall.)
Described as a professional multi-disciplinary association, the AMA is a relevant tool for active members.
The AMA does not have an office or phone; students can reach the group through its mailbox in the USG office, Campbell Student Union, Room 402, or email AMA President Brian Juda at judabu85@mail.buffalostate.edu.
