Where in the world would you like to go?

By Jamie Kania

Imagine living, studying and experiencing the culture of another country. How does Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, or Australia sound?  These are just a few of the many countries that have programs offered by Buffalo State College’s study abroad program.

With over 400 different programs in 60 countries, wherever it is that students may want to go, the Office of International Education at Buffalo State College can help.

Types of Programs

BSC offers two such types of programs: the exchange program and the study abroad program.

With the exchange program, the student pays BSC tuition and fees.  Room and board are normally paid at the host institution.

Students involved in the study abroad program pay the cost of that program to the host college or university.

The locations of various programs offered through BSC

  • Puerto Rico
  • Spain
  • two in Italy
  • four in Australia
  • Quebec
  • England
  • The Netherlands

There are also additional programs and countries that BSC students may be eligible for.  For a complete list and more information, visit www.studyabroad.com/suny.

Lee Ann Grace, assistant dean of international and exchange programs, said the most important piece of advice she can offer to students interested in studying abroad is: “Plan ahead and don’t assume you can’t afford it.”  But that doesn’t mean that students who decide at the last minute can’t participate. She emphasized that planning ahead is so important because students who do so, have access to the most financial aid and scholarships available.
