Buffalo State
College will host an open house from 9 a.m.until noon,
Oct. 29 in the Sports Complex. The event is open to the
public and welcomes prospective students and their families
to campus.
The day is designed to allow prospective
students an opportunity to learn about the various dimensions
of BSC. During morning sessions, students will hear from
faculty, current students, athletic coaches, student life
staff and admission and financial aid staff. They will
also be offered a tour of the campus as
well as exploring the different student
organizations offered to students on campus.
“The event is being held to give
BSC the opportunity to showcase itself to a high number
of prospective students, high school as well as transfer” said
Carolyn Murphy, from the office of admissions.
A large number of
students have registered for the event already, Murphy
said. “It looks to
be another record-breaking event for attendance.”
Open house is not just for incoming
freshmen. This is also the time for transfer
students to come and get a look at the
college and see the different outlets that are offered
to them.
Eric Yang, a prospective chemistry transfer
student from Corning Community College, is anticipating
the upcoming open house.
“I have looked into a few SUNY
schools, and Buffalo State is definitely my first choice,” he
said. “I love the idea of smaller classes and having
faculty that are willing to take the time to help you out.
I can’t wait for open house to learn even more about
the school.”
BSC offers more than 130 undergraduate
programs as well as graduate programs. BSC was established
in 1871 and joined the State University of New York system
in 1948.
