When Student Union Board concert chair Chris Ring decided to attain Andrew WK for the school’s annual Springfest he wanted to add the excitement and attitude that every Springfest should have.

Born in California, and raised in Michigan, Andrew started getting into instruments at an early age. He was classically trained in pianist and also loves to play the drums. He played in a few Detroit punk bands but nothing that got too serious.

At age 17, he moved to New York City where he started recording solo material. Andrew embarked on a few East Coast tours with simply a CD player, keyboard and a microphone. He decided to form a band to play the music he was making and make it a more entertaining experience.

Entertaining isn’t even the word to describe the Andrew WK live show. It’s something people have never seen before. Fast-paced music with high flying kicks and punches in no particular direction with the greatest since of happiness.

Andrew WK’s debut CD, entitled “I Get Wet” has sold nearly 500, 000 copies, and his 2 hit singles “Party Hard” and “She’s so Beautiful” have been receiving considerable airplay on nearly every top 40 radio station including 103.3 WEDG Buffalo. Despite the success Andrew WK will sit around for hours upon hours after his concerts writing out notes and talking to every person who wants a chance to meet him.
