Are you in a band that wants to be heard?
Or just want to win some cool stuff for your band? Or are
you just someone who wants a chance to hear some great music
that Buffalo’s local music scene has to offer?
Then you may want to participate in WBNY’s
annual Battle of the Bands. WBNY is Buffalo
State College’s student-run radio station that is
funded through the mandatory student activity fee.
This year, the battle will take place at
the Mohawk Place (47 E. Mohawk St.). WBNY choose to do the
show this year at the Mohawk Place because it has been newly
renovated.
“I have been told that everything
will be OK and in place to have the battle there so do not
worry,” said an anonymous source at www.buffalostate.edu/wbny/news.
It will take place on April 26th. The Battle of the Bands
will also be broadcast live that night at 91.3 FM.
This year, prizes include but are not limited
to:
- for first and second place—recording and
engineering time from Chameleon West Recording Studios or
Audio Magic Recording Studios
- two $200 gift certificates to Guitar Factory
- gift certificates from Kinko’s
- bowling parties at Kenmore Lanes
- stickers
- cash
How can you enter? Just send a three-song
demo with a $5 processing fee to:
WBNY Battle of the Bands
1300 Elmwood Ave.
Buffalo, NY 14222
Or entries may be dropped off Thursday from 7 to 11 p.m.,
Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and
6 to 9p.m.
The Battle of the Bands is a major event
for WBNY, and station officials encourage all who are interested
to participate.
“It is the only real promotional
event that WBNY does,” said Jackie Curto, WBNY’s
public affairs director.
