Buffalo State College Student Have A Sense Of Safety On Campus

By Steven M. Jacobson

Now that some students have learned of the Incident Control System (ICS) students feel safer at Buffalo State College.

After students reviewed the ICS system many were relieved that BSC had a plan of attack incase disaster struck. Many students reacted to the fact that there were anti-terror drills happening on campus.

“You never think a terrorist attack would happen here,” says BSC student Joe Todaro, “but I’m glad that the campus police are prepared for these situations.”

Some students were impressed by the plan. They had no idea that such a system existed.

“I always thought that emergency situations would be handled by Buffalo police and other organizations,” said Tony Snyder (communications major at BSC). “But I feel safe knowing campus police are doing their best to protect us.”

BSC students were also amazed that the plan applies for more than just terrorist attacks. It also includes fire safety, flooding, criminal behavior and civil disturbance.

“The plan is so broad,” says Snyder, “it makes it seem like our college is prepared for anything.”

As the days progress and students become aware of the Incident Command System. Because the Buffalo State College campus police are making this information public, students feel safer going to school.
