The Buffalo State College Career
Development Center is offering free resume
workshops for any Buffalo State student or alumni
throughout the end of the semester.
Career counselor Jessie Stack tells attendees,
“There are definite guidelines you should follow when
writing your resume.”
Those guidelines include rules for content
and layout. Topics that are covered include how to attract
attention to your abilities, how to demonstrate your value
to an employer and how to create a document that is well
organized and visually attractive.
Sample resumes are viewed and discussed throughout
the workshop. CDC counselors bring sample resumes to the
workshop that cover every major offered at Buffalo State
and encourage attendees to look through the collection.
Casey Eschberger, Buffalo State junior, attended
the resume workshop: “I thought the workshop was helpful.
I learned different ways to incorporate my volunteer experience
into my resume. I also learned about other services available
at the CDC. It was great.”
The workshops last about an hour and cover
information on content and format.
At the conclusion of the workshop each attendee
is given a resume critique card that can be used to have
their resume reviewed by a professional career counselor
at the CDC.
A counselor will review the resume and provide written feedback
on the strengths and weaknesses and offer suggestions on
ways to improve the resume.
Resume workshops are scheduled for the following
days.
- May 1 12:15 - 1:30 pm Ketchum Hall
