History's signature

Living history presented itself at Buffalo State College on April 23.

“I will tell my students that I met the future President of the United States,” Karen D'Amico said.

D'Amico is a teacher who drove an hour from Medina to Buffalo to get a chance to meet U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and have her autograph a copy of her

book, titled “Living History.”

For Kathy Jones, of Buffalo, it was her second time seeing Clinton in person.

“I'm impressed,” Jones said. “She's very efficient.”

She was glad to see the Senator come to the college, a place where she believes Clinton enjoys.

“I think she likes going to colleges because she likes kids and this is known as a teacher college, ” she said.

“Going to a college campus is something we always wanted to do ,” Philippe Reines said.

Reines, Clinton's press secretary, said this is the first upstate signing of either edition of her book.

Tickets for the event cost $17 , which would allow entry into the bookstore, a copy of the book, and a spot in line from 3 to 4:30 p.m. to receive Clinton's autograph.

The paperback version became available on April 15, which may have been good news for Rob Middlemiss, who until Friday had not purchased her book.

Middlemiss said that as a University at Buffalo law student, he had other book expenses to pay for and could not afford the hardcover edition, but said he is a devoted fan of Clinton.

“I think she's made some good efforts in regard to the budget for the state,” he said.
