Where did this lacrosse team come from?

Something right is happing on the Buffalo State College women's lacrosse team. This season, the team is coming out of a losing slump from last year. This is Meg Stevens' second year as head coach as the current season is taking off.

Right now, the team is on a track of having a successful season. Just last season, the team was on a losing streak not able to beat any other opponent. Now, the tables have been turned. The BSC women's lacrosse team is outscoring their opponent by an average of seven goals per game. Last year, the lacrosse team finished the season with a record of 5-9. This season, the team has a finishing record of 10-3.

I have worked them really hard this season. We have two-and-a-half-hour practices six days a week. They practice all year round…And that is the ultimate payoff,” said Stevens.

Chelsey Frail is this season's captain and one of eight returnees to the team. The sophomore has been named the SUNYAC Lacrosse Player of the Week, and just recently was named to the Inside Lacrosse Division III Weekly Honor Roll. She currently leads the team with 35 goals. As of late April, Frail is currently in second place as the Bengal's all-time career points leaders with 58 goals and 23 assists for a total of 81 points.

“Chelsey is a phenomenal player and leader,” said Stevens. “However, the team has many outstanding players. They just aren't depending on one player. We have a lot of well-rounded teammates.”

This season, there are three new faces on the team who have never played before. They are playing very well and are really good, stated Stevens. The team has made it to their very first SUNYAC Championships. In the first round, they play the number one team, SUNY Cortland.

The girls are working extremely hard with heart and pride. I don't think that we have played our best yet. These girls deserve it ,” said Stevens.
