Its 11 at night the day before the
paper is due. You’re frantically looking for your
directions on how to do the assignment. The paper has mysteriously
disappeared, and your stressed out because you have to figure
out what your going to tell your teacher in the morning
why your paper isn’t done.
This is the story of my schooling life. Originally
I had to write this article on something important that
deals with our college. When I finally realized last minute
I had a paper to do, it was too late. I couldn’t find
my stories background paper. On any normal day I’d
go and lie down and say forget it, and try and make up some
ridiculous excuse to give to the teacher in the morning.
I sat up last night and contemplated emailing the teacher,
and then realized I’d have to come up with a new subject
to do my article on. What better idea then the situation
I was in.
Fellow Buffalo State College Student, Rob
Sirolie, states a similar situation where he decided to
wait till the last minute to finish up his essay and realized
that his internet service wasn’t working at his house.
He, as we all do had to stress out till the next morning
when he had to tell his teacher the problem. He may come
up with an excuse original as “my dog ate my homework”,
or “my computer exploded losing all the files including
my essay”. Instead Rob told his teacher the truth.
He explained what happened and the teacher luckily believed
Rob, and let him hand in the assignment a day late.
As a teacher when do you say enough is enough?
Yes the student has to stress over talking to you in the
morning, but the teacher has to stress over getting grades
in on time, and making sure the student is learning the
material given. I am not a teacher but I know the excuses
I’ve given in the past and some are pretty bad. I
guess it’s an endless cycle that keeps not only Buffalo
State College interesting but every school in the world
interesting.
More or Less the moral of my article
is too not leave things till the last minute. If myself
or Rob would have decided to do the article or essay a week
before it was due then we wouldn’t be in the predicament
we put ourselves in. Granted I write this now, but I have
a feeling I’ll be right back in the same situation
next week when a hurricane comes and destroys my book bag
leaving me without my directions once.
