Buffalo State College is holding an armed services reunion the weekend of Nov. 4 through Nov. 6. The reunion is being held to honor and celebrate the students, faculty, staff and alumni who served in any branch of the military .
Organizer Kate Ward, director of alumni affairs, says the reunion is not completely planned and no cost has been set, but there are some events already set up.
Nov. 4 there will be a tour of Buffalo for people who live out of town and a tour of the Buffalo Naval Park .
Nov. 5 there will be lunch and a program in Rockwell Hall Performing Arts Center .
Nov. 6 is Armed Forces Sunday Mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral and a farewell brunch for anyone who would like to attend.
“The idea for the reunion came up at an alumni meeting and the alumni liked the idea, so we went from there,” Ward says.
Former Buffalo State College student Dr. Richard Auerbach, who spent 26 years in the Naval Reserve and four years active duty says it's great that the college is recognizing the people who served in the military.
The college does not have record of students who served in the armed forces, so personal contact is how people are being invited.
For more information about the reunion contact the Alumni Affairs office in Cleveland Hall 305 at (716) 878-6001.
