Scholarships!!! All over the United States students looking to enter or already in college seek out scholarships that may assist in easing the overwhelming and constantly increasing burden of tuition.

Patricia Ghee, the scholarship coordinator, was unavailable to comment about the scholarship/internship offer through Buffalo State College. Instead, her work-study student, Sonia Vargas, said in a phone interview that approximately 150 Buffalo State students applied for an internal scholarship and 1,000 for an external scholarship each semester.

  • Internal scholarships are scholarship offered by Buffalo State.
  • External scholarships are scholarship not offered by Buffalo State

Unable to send the information about scholarships directly to students; the scholarship office notifies the staff and faculty on a monthly basis. Ghee said she supports all statements made by her work-study student.

The scholarship office broadcasts the available scholarships on:

  • BSC- TV
  • they distribute fliers and pamphlets
  • or by posting notices on the bulletin board outside the Cleveland Hall 211A office

The available scholarships vary according to major, race, gender and there are those scholarships that don't have specific requirements .

The scholarships available in the scholarship office came from:

  • the Internet
  • books
  • companies that offer scholarships/internships each year

To avoid mistakes the office strongly advises students to follow the instructions on the application.

No one has ever been denied a scholarship because of a mistake, but it is a frequent problem. Students are also notified of placement regardless of whether they get the scholarship or not. There is help available in the scholarship office for any applicant having a problem.
