Seek and ye shall find

“Faith, hope and love the greatest of all these is love,” said Ronald Vazquez. The name Faith, Hope and Love was taken from 1 Corinthians 13:13 . Founders Patricio Penaherrera, Brian Carr and Vazquez felt that the quote sums up their Christian life and represents the true meaning of God.
The group started in February 2003 to bring students together while spending the good news of the Bible.
When the group started it only had three members. Now there are approximately 25 students who attend Bible services, 15 prayer meetings, 10 fellowships and 15 who go to church every Sunday in Nigeria falls .
The group holds four meeting a week in Moore Complex G206 :
- Mondays at 8 p.m. – Bible study
- Wednesdays at 9 p.m.- prayer meeting
- Fridays at 8 p.m. – fellowship
- Sunday at 10 a.m.—church in Nigeria falls
Penaherrera stated that when the group was first established it didn't seek recognition from the United Students Government because it didn't want to be commercialized. But now it is in the process of being recognized by USG as a non-profit organization.
The group does volunteer service at:
- soup kitchens – every first Saturday of the month last semester
- sleep outs
- provides canned goods to various city missions in Buffalo
- Corner Stone Manner, is a shelter for women and children
- participate in the Big Brother, Big Sister program
- goes to Urban Christian Ministry on Tuesdays
- held an inspirational forum with born-again Christian speaker Nicky Cruz- Feb 27
- trips to the theater- last week “ The Passion of the Christ”
Penaherrera and Vazquez want students to know that Christ-like love conquers everything.
All are welcome to the activities . Viviane Ouedraoge, a member of the group said, “We are a family of faith, hope and love, who invites everyone to come and share the word of the Lord.”
Michelle Curtis: “I think this is a great group of students who are coming together celebrating their faith in God. They are not ashamed of their ministry and I believe that it's only through faith, hope and love that people can work together on one accord.”
“Although I never heard of Faith, Hope and Love, students our age seem to have little faith , a distorted view of love but a whole lot of hope- you can't have one without the other,” said BSC student Aaron Smith.
Upcoming programs include:
- March 27 - repair party
- April 23-25- spiritual leader weekend
- May 7- conference revival
