If you are interested
in gaining valuable leadership skills and making some spending
money this summer, add this to your list of possibilities.
The Orientation Office is looking to hire 40 people to help
make the orientation and registration process easier for
new students this summer session.
Orientation leaders are a resource for the
new students. They help to make the incoming freshmen more
comfortable with the campus, act as peer support by answering
questions, and assist with forms. According to Eileen Merberg,
Director of orientation and first year programs “They
are an important part of helping to make the transition
from high school to college a smooth one.” Those interested
in one of the positions must have completed at least one
semester at Buffalo State College, and have a GPA of 2.25
or higher.”
Applicants need to be available during summer
registration and orientation, which will be July 10, 11,
17, and 18th. There is an extensive training that includes
two three-day training retreats. Training days will be June
8-11, June 24-27 and July 8. Participants must be available
for all of the training and orientation dates.
Leaders are provided free housing and meals
for all program and training days, and upon completion will
receive a $1,000 stipend.
Interested students can get an information
packet and application at the Orientation Office in Porter
Hall 14-J lower level. The application deadline is March
14.
