Buffalo State Announces Springfest For April 24th

By Kevin Donovan

When Student Union Board concert chair Chris Ring started planning for this years spring fest he said that he wanted something enormous. He did his research and had many ideas, but what he got was one of the best lineups Buffalo State College has seen since Nirvana and the Smashing Pumpkins played here.

The band The Used hails from Orem, Utah, and plays a blend of rock that appeals to mostly anyone. There hit single, “Buried Myself Alive”, has been receiving radio airplay across the country, and there video has been all over MTV and M2. Lead singer Bert McCracken sings that they were are not taking any of their success for granted in the song “The Taste of Ink”. Buffalo state Students should set their calendars for April 24th when The Used hits the campus.

Another artist on this years Springfest will be none other than Andrew WK. Ring goes on to say that Andrew WK’s fun filled party oriented music is what every springfest should be about, and that not one person who comes to springfest will leave without a huge smile on there face. Andrew WK is well known for his crazy stage antics and entertaining live show that will have everyone moving on April 24th.

Chris Ring stated that he wanted diversity. Last year springfest brought the MTV Tour featuring Default, a rock headliner so this year Ring stated that he wanted a hip hop headliner. When he had the chance to grab The Roots for springfest he didn’t pass up the opportunity. The Roots are notably one of the biggest hip hop groups of all time. They have influenced so many hip hop artists and rappers since they started back in 1979. Over the last 15 years The Roots have taken a different approach to success. They have created an underground fan base not dependant upon commercial radio success which has given them the opportunity to never disappear. They will be at Buffalo State College on April 24th.
