Buffalo State expands the minds of students

Do you need help with a specific subject? If so, the academic skills center can assist you. They provide students with one-on-one tutoring assistance subjects in various areas. "I needed some help in one of my classes when I was a freshman and the academic skills center really helped me.” said sophomore Nicole Gary .
Coordinator of tutorial services Thomas Renzi would like all students to know that the academic skills center is always there to provide any student with free tutoring whenever they need it.
"Our main function is to provide tutors to the college community and to offer assistance in various subject areas." said Renzi .
The academic skills center is located in South Wing 330 there hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The center currently has 12 tutors on board that are qualified in various areas. The subjects that tutors can assist students in are:
- math
- writing
- science
- political science
- history
- psychology
- physiology
- study skills
- computer skills
- business
- languages ( Latin, Spanish, French, Italian)
"Many students find that our tutoring is a positive experience and many come back for further help." said Renzi. “There are about 1500 students who regularly come back to us for further help.”
The academic skills center will follow up with each student with their consent to see how they are doing in the specific subject. However, there is no obligation on the student for a follow up.
