Four years in one school! There are so many to choose from! That may be what a lot of students say when the tie comes to decide where to go to college. According to Buffalo State Insider, it's the campus visit that's the deciding factor. What did Buffalo State so to attract the more than 11,000 students that call the campus home?
On Saturday, April 17 th from noon to 3 p.m., the campus will host its annual undergraduate open house at the sports arena. With an expected of more than 500 students and their families, visitors can expect to:
- meet with faculty
- receive information on student advisement and career opportunities
- tour campus
- tour residential halls
- receive presentations on financial aid and admissions
- receive information the undergraduate programs and student affairs.
Three workshops on financial aid will be preformed on consecutive time slots beginning at 12:30 p.m. Other specific presentations going on that day with be:
- academic advisement for undeclared majors
- information session/demonstration of degree navigator for transfer student
“Basically open house is geared toward the already accepted student,” said Carolyn Murphy, admissions adviser.
The crowd also draws students who are still looking.
“We get a lot who haven't decided, even high school junior,”says Murphy.
For students who have already made up their mind the event is informative and beneficial
“I wanted to know where everything was on campus, and feel comfortable with it,” says Megan Sabatini, now a freshman living on campus. “I definitely would have got to open house before deciding to come here.”
Registration is required for the free event. Contact (716) 878-4017, admissions@buffalostate.edu for further information. Directions and parking.
