USG prepares for Spring Fest
By Ivory Miller

If anyone has been waiting for something exciting to do on campus then wait no more, the United Students Government is making preparations for its annual Spring Fest concert.

Spring Fest is an event where popular rock, pop, hip-hop or R&B artists are invited to perform on the Buffalo State College campus. There have been past performances from artists such as:

  • The Roots
  • Andrew WK
  • Nickelback
  • Smashing Pumpkins
  • One World Tribe

USG's Administrative Vice President of Student Affairs Michelle Curtis, is in charge of making the preparations for Spring Fest with the help of a Spring Fest committee.

“Promotions, advertisement, contacting a company, for example Clear Channel to do promoting, and everything to get a good bid for someone to come to campus,” replied Curtis when asked what steps she and her committee must take in preparing for this event.

Curtis has an idea on who might be performing in this year's Spring Fest concert, but unfortunately everyone will be held in suspense a little longer because the line-up has not been finalized.

“My goal for this Spring Fest is for everybody to come out of their hole and have fun and for us [USG] to sell out the sports arena,” said Curtis.

In the past, students were able to obtain one free ticket with a valid Buffalo State student I.D. card to attend Spring Fest. It has not been determined whether this will pertain to this year's Spring Fest but, if not, Buffalo State students will receive a discount from the original price.

Spring Fest has been scheduled for April 24 th . Tickets are planned to go on sale within the next three weeks, or when it is finalized on who will be performing. More information will be available in the weeks to come.
