Students must submit a completed application form , an essay and two letters of recommendation to the Alumni Affairs Office, Cleveland Hall 214. Applications must be postmarked or received by the office by April 2.

Scholarship awards range from $250 to $1,000 . Some of the available scholarships are the:

• Schmidt/Eckert ( three awards - $600 per person)
• Frances Holbrook ($300 per person)
• Brigitte V. Kallen ($500 per person)
• Dr. G. Wesley Ketcham (three awards - $700 per person)
• Hazel McCartney ($1,000 per person)

Assistant to the Director of the Alumni Association Jennifer Small is one of the

people in control of scholarships. Small said that the students can receive more than one scholarship . She also said that there are different requirements for each scholarship. Students can get more information at the Alumni Association's Web site

(www.buffalostate.edu/alumnifoundation/), or students can call the office at 878-6001.

The scholarship essay must include information about the student, the student's area of study and information about the people who recommended the student.

There are also scholarships available at the Financial Aid Office . Student Assistant Ronnie Wu said that there are many different types of scholarships offered.

“There are internal BSC scholarships and departmental scholarships,” said Wu. “There are external scholarships that the Financial Aid Office can direct students to.”

There are 10 internal scholarships that are for students who have at least a 3.0 GPA and who are in financial need . The departmental scholarships are given out by different academic disciplines on campus and students can ask about them at the Financial Aid Office. The external scholarships are not given by BSC. The Financial Aid Office provides search engines for students so they can find them.
